Our Initiatives Toward the SDGs
We are proud to share our ongoing efforts toward sustainability and innovation, contributing to the global achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We are committed to incorporating the principles of the SDGs not only into our daily routines but also into specific, impactful initiatives. In our office, we focus on saving electricity and water, reducing paper usage, and fostering a sustainable mindset among employees. Beyond these everyday practices, we have taken concrete steps toward sustainability, including:

Supporting Chalk Production for Schools in the Democratic
Republic of Congo In collaboration with a research seminar at Keio University, we support a volunteer project building schools in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This initiative emphasizes teaching local communities the skills needed to sustainably construct schools within their environment.
One key aspect of this effort is chalk production for school use, a process in which Umajirushi actively participates.

Workplace Experiences and Factory Tours for Local Students
As part of our commitment to social education, we provide workplace experiences for junior high school students and factory tours for elementary school students in Komaki City, where our factory is located. Students learn about chalk manufacturing, blackboard and whiteboard production, and more. We aim to inspire the next generation and foster connections with the local community through these activities.

Welcoming Vietnamese Technical Interns
Our company president personally visits families in Vietnam to support the recruitment of technical interns. We also prepare to welcome our second intern, who has passed a Level 3 technical certification exam.
Our goal is to promote harmonious co-living and mutual happiness for both Japanese and international workers.

SDGs Collaboration with Kasugai Nishi High School Partnering with the school, we engaged with students to foster awareness of sustainable practices.
Their valuable feedback inspired new product ideas and innovations.

Development of “Broken Chalk” Products. Inspired by input from Kasugai Nishi High School students, we developed creative products utilizing broken chalk, giving new life to discarded materials.

Testing Chalk waste as Fertilizer Exploring the potential of chalk waste in agriculture, we are testing its use as an eco-friendly soil amendment to reduce waste and enhance sustainability.

Created a ruler from chalk waste powder as a novelty item.
We transformed chalk waste powder into a functional and environmentally friendly ruler, offered as a novelty item to highlight the possibilities of waste repurposing.
